“The Sculpture Capital of Canada”™

I am thrilled and honored to be a selected artist for the Castlegar Sculpturewalk 2026! Now in its 16th year, Sculpturewalk is an annual outdoor exhibition that transforms downtown Castlegar, BC into a vibrant open-air gallery. We first discovered this town on a summer road trip and spent a day following the map to find creative sculpture pieces scattered throughout this walkable Canadian city. Situated in the rugged Selkirk Mountains at the confluence of the Kootenay and Columbia Rivers, Castlegar is an excellent destination for exploring both art and stunning natural scenery.

I attended the opening gala, where I had the pleasure of meeting and mingling with 28 other incredibly talented artists from Canada and around the globe.

My piece, titled “Returning Salmon,” honors the salmon’s remarkable life cycle and its enduring journey from ocean to spawning grounds. Constructed from repurposed metal elements, the sculpture reflects themes of resilience, migration, and renewal. The piece is meant to highlight both the beauty and vulnerability of salmon populations, while encouraging viewers to reflect on our collective responsibility to protect the waterways and species that depend on them.
